Destination guide
You leave a short row of beach bars and walk into thick green jungle, where small footpaths replace roads and traffic. On one side, wooden villages and beach bars line the shore, while the Koh Rong Islands stay mostly forested inside. Around Koh Touch on Koh Rong, music and beach parties draw backpackers who like a noisy, social night. Farther from the hub, long quiet beaches and clear water on Koh Rong and Koh Rong Sanloem invite swimming, snorkeling, and hammock time. There are almost no large towns here, so the islands feel peaceful and far from normal city life. At night you join a small boat, jump into dark water, and see bright blue plankton sparkle around every move.

Give it 4 to 7 nights, enough to split time between lively beaches, quiet bays, boat trips, and one lazy day doing almost nothing.
Skip if strong Wi-Fi, easy medical help, smooth boats, or busy sightseeing are needed, especially in wet season when crossings turn rough and plans slip.
