Destination guide
Bukhara has sand-colored brick mosques and madrassas, where people walk through courtyards and simple arched walkways. The Po-i-Kalyan complex is formed by the Kalyan Minaret, Kalyan Mosque, and Mir-i-Arab Madrasa around one central square. Most sights stand inside the compact old town, so walking between them naturally slows the rhythm of a visit. In summer the sun can make stone lanes and open squares hot during midday. Covered bazaars and old trading domes sell carpets, scarves, and spices, where bargaining stays friendly and sometimes a little funny. Lyabi-Hauz square is a calmer space, with stone edges, a pool, and mulberry trees around the water. Sitting on the steps at Lyabi-Hauz beside the pool is a simple way to share Bukhara’s historic heart.

At a glance
Calm, sunny, and a little sleepy, with evening life around Lyabi-Hauz, photo stops everywhere, and more quiet conversation than party energy.
Plan 2 to 3 nights, enough for a full old-city loop, one relaxed evening, and a second day without rushing.
Skip or keep it short if tile-heavy sights blur together, heat ruins walking days, or a trip needs nightlife, hostel buzz, and action.
