Vibe
Busy, social, and a little image-heavy, Canggu mixes surfers, remote workers, party nights, and café culture with less chill than old Bali dreams.

Destination guide
Waves roll toward a row of surfboards resting on the sand in front of simple beach bars. Behind the beach, Canggu on Bali's southwest coast stretches between green rice fields and narrow roads full of scooters. Small cafes, warungs, and markets stand close together, so finding cheap food and basic things is easy. Traffic on the main road is often heavy, so scooters and taxis move slowly through the village. Away from the crowds, rice field paths and side streets give daily life a calm, slow rhythm. Shared work spaces sit above cafes. Inside, fans turn slowly over people typing on their laptops. At Batu Bolong Beach, you ride small, gentle waves on a rented board near the rock temple that gives the beach its name.

Busy, social, and a little image-heavy, Canggu mixes surfers, remote workers, party nights, and café culture with less chill than old Bali dreams.
2 to 4 nights works best, enough for surf, cafés, and beach time before traffic and crowds start to wear thin.
Skip it for quiet beaches, strong local culture nearby, or old Bali calm, especially in wet months when rain, debris, and traffic get worse.
