Destination guide
Lovina spreads along a wide black-sand beach on Bali's quiet north coast. The calm, shallow sea here makes swimming and simple snorkeling easy in the water. Small lanes lead inland to homestays and warungs close to the beach. Nearby Banjar hot springs steam with mineral water under tall jungle trees. Gitgit Waterfall sends a high stream into a deep pool in the hills. Evenings stay gentle, with beach bars open and the soft wash of small waves. Some mornings the dolphins do not appear, so boats just circle slowly on the water. On other days, dolphins surface close to the boats off Lovina in small groups and move quickly through the calm sea.

At a glance
Slow, low-key, and a little sleepy, Lovina revolves around Kalibukbuk warungs, scooter rides, sunset walks, and early starts for boats on calm water.
Stay 1 to 3 nights, enough for a dolphin morning, a waterfall or hot spring trip, and one slow beach sunset.
Skip it for white-sand beach time, surf, nightlife, hostel buzz, or work-heavy days, especially in wetter January when boat trips get less reliable.
