Destination guide
Green villages sit in deep river valleys while bare cliffs and snowy ridges rise high above them. Between these two worlds lies Nepal's Annapurna Region, where long trails almost circle one massive mountain group. Simple teahouses along the paths offer beds, hot meals, and a room where prayer flags move outside. Because most movement happens on foot, days here often feel slow and steady instead of rushed. The Annapurna Circuit leads through wet forest, high valleys, and over Thorong La, a windy pass above 5,000 meters. High altitude and cold nights there mean you walk more slowly and sleep under heavy blankets. At Annapurna Base Camp, you stand inside a close circle of peaks while glaciers and cliffs rise around the lodges.

Life shrinks to warm food, dusty boots, early sleep, and weather talk. Some stops feel soft and busy, others feel dry, windy, and raw.
Give it 5 to 12 nights, enough for a shorter trek or a fuller circuit section with acclimatization and weather slack.
Skip it with a tight schedule, remote work plans, or low tolerance for cold rooms, bad toilets, altitude risk, and weather delays.
