Destination guide
Long swims in clear, warm lake water take place between high cliffs and thick forest. From the wooden boardwalk at Kayangan Lake, the view across Coron mixes wild limestone walls and still basins. Out on the bay, small outrigger boats move between lagoons, narrow coves, and tiny fishing villages. The steep karst islands rise straight from the sea, so every ride stays close to the rock and water. Under the surface, coral gardens and famous World War II wrecks form gentle paths between steel beams and slow fish. Simple boat trips and short climbs fill many days here, and the pace naturally stays slow and easy. At Maquinit Hot Spring, feet rest in steaming saltwater while mangrove roots stand close beside the stone pools.

Small-town base, early starts, tricycles, simple dinners, then a beer after the boats return. Social enough to meet people, quiet enough to sleep.
Plan 3 to 5 nights, enough for a few island tours, a hot spring stop, and some slack for weather.
Skip it if boats, diving, or slow water days sound dull, or if patchy internet, brownouts, rough seas, and quiet nights will annoy you.
