Destination guide
In Port Barton, small wooden bangka boats glide across the calm bay toward nearby islands. They stop at quiet coves and sandbars where clear water shows bright coral and swaying sea grass below. Travelers snorkel above reefs, watch schools of fish move together, and sometimes see sea turtles gliding slowly past. Behind the beach, a small village of simple guesthouses, cafes, and homes sits among coconut palms and sandy lanes. With few streets and soft wave noise at night, the town keeps a slow, easy rhythm. Short trails lead into the forest to Pamuayan or Bigaho Falls, where cool freshwater pools offer a break from the salt. On dark nights, boat drivers sometimes take travelers onto the bay to watch glowing plankton turn each splash of water into green lights.
