Destination guide
In Puerto Princesa, travelers step from busy streets to wild limestone cliffs and forest after only a short ride. The famous Puerto Princesa Subterranean River takes boats through a long cave filled with strange rock shapes and water under the boat. On nearby Honda Bay, island-hopping boats stop at beaches where soft sand and simple huts make quiet swimming breaks. Inside the city, tricycles buzz past markets, bakeries, and the baywalk, so travelers always share space with locals going about daily life. Mangrove paddle tours slip along narrow channels, with roots at arm's length on both sides of the boat. At night on the Iwahig River near Puerto Princesa, a small boat glides while fireflies blink above the mangrove trees.

More useful than dreamy, Puerto Princesa has a low-key city rhythm, mild social scene, and enough nature around it for a soft reset.
One to three nights is enough for errands, one tour, and a reset.
Skip staying longer if you want beach-town buzz, strong backpacker energy, or reliable remote work. In rainy months, delays and tour cancellations get old fast.
