Destination guide
Ride a motorbike along high mountain roads, with cliffs on one side and deep valleys and rivers on the other. Ha Giang Loop is a multi-day motorbike route in far northern Vietnam, known for steep passes and views over the Dong Van Karst Plateau. The road winds through small villages with wooden or clay houses. Terraced rice fields and gray limestone peaks rise close on both sides. Family homestays in small villages have shared floor mattresses, hot tea, and simple food around low wooden tables. At Ma Pi Leng Pass, travelers stop their bikes and look down at the bright green Nho Que River far below as wind rushes past.

At a glance
Days feel exposed and focused, coffee stops, wind, bends, then quiet dinners, rice wine, and sleep, unless a big group gets noisy.
Plan 3 to 4 nights, enough for the full loop without turning every day into a rush.
Skip it in heavy summer rain or deep winter fog, and skip anytime if cold rooms, rough roads, or motorbikes sound stressful.
