Destination guide
Nha Trang, on Vietnam’s south-central coast, mixes a busy city beach with quiet islands in its wide bay. A long sandy strip lines the city, with palm trees, soft waves, and simple exercise areas along the walkway. Streets just behind the sand hold small noodle shops, bars, and guesthouses. Beach, food, and bars sit only a short walk apart. For quieter views, Po Nagar Cham Towers and Long Son Pagoda look down over the city from low hills. Day boats cross the bay to little islands. These trips give time for swimming, simple grilled seafood, and sometimes silly karaoke on the deck above the water. At Hon Mun Marine Protected Area, masks drop into clear green water where coral and many fish crowd the reef.

2 to 4 nights works well, enough for beach time, one island boat trip, snorkeling or diving, and a couple hill views.
Skip it in October to December, or if busy beach cities, touts, and weak local charm get old fast. Quiet-beach fans should look elsewhere.
