Destination guide
Khao Sok sits between thick rainforest and the limestone towers rising above Cheow Lan Lake. Inside the national park, trails lead through dense jungle, bamboo forest, and past quiet, dark caves. Heavy rain can make paths muddy and slow, and some routes may close for safety. The river near town offers gentle tubing and kayaking, with dense forest rising close on both sides. Many travelers spend days hiking or on the river, then relax in Khao Sok village between trips. Guided night walks may reveal glowing fungi, loud insects, and occasional animals resting high in the trees. On Cheow Lan Lake, travelers can sleep in simple floating bungalows, waking to sheer limestone cliffs reflected in still, pale water.

At a glance
Quiet, green, and slow, with a small village for meals and sleep, then rustic lake nights, jungle sounds, and calm days over party energy.
Plan 2 to 3 nights, split between Khlong Sok village and Cheow Lan Lake if possible.
Skip it if you want beaches, bars, easy solo exploring, or strong Wi-Fi, and if mud, bugs, humidity, and basic bathrooms sound miserable.
