Destination guide
Between steep jungle hills and the sea, Koh Chang, part of Mu Ko Chang National Park, is best explored by scooter. Riding shows forest, fishing piers, and relaxed backpacker areas like Lonely Beach and Klong Prao. Days on Koh Chang often slow down to simple things like long swims, cheap street food, and easy beach walks. Further southeast, smaller Koh Kood is quieter, with clear turquoise water and tall coconut trees along most beaches. Here you kayak up rivers under mangroves or snorkel above coral and fish. Simple beach bungalows stand close to the water, so nights stay quiet and dark. At Khlong Chao Waterfall on Koh Kood, you jump from a rope swing into a deep green jungle pool.

Best with 4 to 7 nights, enough for Koh Chang's busier west coast first, then slower beach time on Koh Kood.
Skip if the plan needs big nightlife, easy public transport, or wet-season certainty. Also skip if nobody rides a scooter and taxi costs sting.
